Learning that you have cancer is one of the most difficult news to hear. After all, receiving such news can not only fundamentally impact the individual but the people around him/her. In an article from parade.com, It brought up a relevant example where obesity contributes to cancer recurring in most cases. Yet, it also brings up a good analogy of how obesity can be viewed as a modifiable factor; meaning it is cancer is not as a foregone conclusion as society makes it out to be. In any case, there are several suggestions to deal with cancer. The first being is to maintain a healthy diet. Now this has been brought up in other posts on this site but, an ideal diet includes veggies, fruits, whole grains, and lean meat. Eat red meat and consume alcohol with moderation. Exercise is another solution because it can help reduce fatigue because it can keep one’s stress level in check. Skipping out on preventive care is like dropping a bowling ball onto your foot, just don’t do it. It can come a long way to do some light research for an individual to be familiar with their particular cancer. Anticipate the signs or worsening condition before they come about unnoticed. The last step for cancer or any sickness is to be hopeful. Whether its by prayer or following the doctor’s advice to live healthier, as long as one remains hopeful, life will not end on a gloomy note.

We can’t all have children who are outright geniuses or have a passion to learn. Maybe its not so much that kids don’t want to learn, but more so that their surroundings don't encourage them to put effort into learning. These methods should give parents an idea of where to start. The first method is for parents to show a standard of acceptance before expectations. What this means is children should not feel forced to study nor should parents pressure them to the point it becomes more of a burden. Show children its okay to not get the concepts in one try and if they make a mistake, encourage them to keep trying. Paying attention to a child’s interest can improve their learning because for some kids, nothing is interesting unless a parent can find a way to apply dinosaurs in a math question for instance. Kids will one way or another test an adult patience’s for every time they ask “why?”. Rather than have a back and forth with a child, encourage a child’s curiosity and give them a window of opportunity to delve into the topic in their own way. School is essential for a child's education, but it shouldn’t be an all-or-nothing approach. Instead, it could simply be that the child doesn’t feel completely comfortable at school, so it’s worth teaching them at home, park, library, etc. Learning doesn’t have to follow traditions through and through. It makes a difference to provide visuals or demonstrations to keep a child engaged in the work. There are other methods such as working together, reducing distractions, or asking help from another adult. Regardless of which approach a parent takes, a child’s well being is the utmost priority.

The thing that sucks about reality is after college, unless one opens a business or becomes famous, people spend the rest of their lives working until retirement. Even so, there is no need for anyone to settle in a cycle of getting up, going to work, and going to sleep for who knows how long it takes to retire. These are some suggestions to not feel stuck in a career or job. Making time for yourself is important because the effort one makes can only be realized when the individual is feeling positive. There is no harm to making time for oneself to take a step and rediscover their passion for work. Another suggestion to grow one’s network at work or anywhere. There may be a perfect opportunity waiting to befriend new people or getting back in touch with those one may not be as close to (highschool friend or associate from a former job). Even though people are everywhere at all times, the people who inspire us or provide support are the ones individuals must stay close with. A good support system is a sure way to give one a much needed boost of morale. These suggestions can only be possible if said individual works on their own personal brand; meaning one has to leave a good impression on others, or at the very least, give off an honest brand. People will respect sincerity almost every time. Being accountable is also important because there are only so many times others can hold someone accountable before they end up getting tired from said individual not changing their ways. Make sure the job aligns with one;s value. Even if said job pays good money, nothing good in the long term will come from an employee who comes to work everyday looking miserable. It never hurts to get out of your comfort zone because while one should feel comfortable, playing safe forever doesn't get far and what’s the harm in trying something new. People are always changing. Most importantly, take some time to reflect and think long and hard whether the drawbacks of the job is worth putting up with.

In fairness, anger is both a common and sometimes healthy feeling. However, when one is unable to control their anger or takes it out on a friend or family member, that is when it becomes an issue. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to reduce anger, providing relief to loved ones and to oneself. The simplest method is to breathe calmly. Specifically, breath from diaphragm instead of the chest; similar to how one should sing from the diaphragm instead of the throat. Telling oneself keywords or phrases such as “relax” or “calm down” can also make the difference to reevaluate a situation. The term “happy place” certainly applies here because creating a mental image of a favorite memory or imagination can lift one’s morale. For people who prefer a more physical solution can look towards yoga, exercise by riding a bike for example. The main takeaway from this response should be to think logically. In doing so, one can take a step back from any situation and take a moment to decide whether the matter is worth remaining angry over.

Depression holds a range of symptoms, circumstances, and answers. According to the National Alliances of Mental Illness, it is a critical condition where medical help is highly recommended. In 2020, about 21 million adults- 8.4% have suffered an episode of depression at one point in their life. Symptoms can result in change of sleep, lack of concentration, change in movement, to name a few. Its causes can also vary from trauma, genetics, life circumstances, and drug and alcohol misuse. For a more relatable answer, I'll focus on one the symptom "hopelessness or guilty thoughts" This symptom I feel stood out is because for the longest time, whenever I told myself that today would be a good day, it immediately went downhill fast. Every worst case scenario would always happen. It got to a point where I closed myself around everyone and kept to myself. For those who wonder how I got through with this, I had an alternate approach; where my friend suggested I only tell myself I had a good day AFTER it the day had passed. Since then, its worked greatly, not that im immune to bad days, but I feel I can by better than I ever could in a long time. My case will be different from people who suffer from depression, no two cases are exactly the same. However, there are several treatments that include but not limited to: psychotherapy, medication and exercise.

Treatment for ADHD can either be done through therapy or with medicine, sometimes both. It truly comes down to the age and condition of the individual. For children around preschool, the most well known therapy is the Parent Child Intervention Therapy (PCIT), where behavioral strategies are developed with the help of parent management and school intervention. When it comes to medicine, amphetamines are considered the standard for this demographic because it is the only FDA approved medication. To tackle the issue of ADHD when it comes to children from elementary through highschool, the most practical solution would be to enroll them in special education. In doing so, students would be eligible for study skill instructions, alternative teaching methods, and a modified curriculum. However, another option to opt out special education would be to apply for a 504 plan Treatment for adults can be difficult because for some, the diagnosis isn’t made until much later in their lifetime. For adults to get diagnosed, one would need to undergo a comprehensive evaluation and a medical exam. Treatment for adults can range from medication or psychotherapy. Behavioral management can be especially helping from the support of an immediate family. Of course, there is no immediate cure for ADHD, but as listed previously, there are several methods to treat this disorder. Children can receive an altered curriculum and adults are protected from discrimination under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

There are several symptoms that can help diagnose an individual with ADHD. Including, but not limited to: fails to pay close attention to details or makes careless mistakes at work, school, etc. Has difficulty paying attention to activities at work or school. May come off as aloof; in other words, not paying full attention when being spoken to directly. Blurting out the answers, finding difficulty waiting for their turn, intervening constantly, or talking excessively can also provide symptoms for identifying ADHD. On top of this, several more conditions must be met: the symptoms must be present before the age of 12, symptoms must be present in at least two settings (work, school, etc), brazen evidence said symptoms affect an individual's ability to work and pay attention to a task, and finally, cannot be explained by another disorder.

Treatments for Methamphetamine Addiction The first step in treating methamphetamine addiction is usually medical detox. Overuse and abuse of methamphetamine increases your tolerance, which can lead to physical dependence and, upon deciding to quit, some terrible withdrawal symptoms. For this reason, your healthcare provider will likely recommend medically-assisted detox followed by a form of therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) This type of therapy focuses on shifting behaviors to stop unhealthy patterns.CBT therapy focuses on learning new and drug-free ways to cope with stress in life. It relies on recognizing our own personal reactions to environmental or emotional cues, stopping the negative impulsive response, and adapting with a healthy alternative.

For anyone unfamiliar with the term, it is the opinion an individual has of him or herself. This is very important to monitor because on our good days, we can feel as though we can do anything or put our best effort forward. When our self-esteem is down, one may end up thinking critically and harshly of themselves. Low self-esteem can occur from one’s childhood and the influence they have around those they grew up with or learned from. Tragically, people in general tend to cling on to the negative memories. It doesn’t help that some people are more susceptible to low self-esteem due to their personality. As a result, an individual with low self-esteem may stop making conversations with people, shy away from events, and can get triggered easily. In the worst case scenario, it can build up to anxiety or depression. Some ways to improve one’s self-esteem to be kind to yourself. Life won’t always go our way, so we can’t afford to judge ourselves so harshly. The relationships one has in this scenario can make all the difference. Spend more time connecting with those who are supportive or are a positive influence and stay away from those who will have a negative impact. We may not all be good at everything but recognizing one’s strength and weakness is a subtle change, but it is a good piece of information to know nonetheless. Being assertive is especially helpful because unless one speaks up for themselves, who else will?

There is nothing wrong with expressing anger since everyone has their ups and downs. Although this doesn't mean people should encourage it either. Venting our anger will undoubtedly affect our physical health via heart disease, diabetes, weak immune system, insomnia and high blood pressure. Mentally, it leads to making it difficult for one to focus on a task as well as stress., depression, etc. It can affect one's work if they lash out on coworkers and employers. Compromise and creative differences are encouraged at work as a whole though. Lastly, anger can cause tensions between family, friends, and anyone else close to an individual. Fortunately for us, there are plenty of way to detect symptoms of our anger and reduce broken friendships. The first tip is to dig a little deeper. Whether it is due to having a tough time compromising, different point of views from a majority, or struggle expressing emotions other than anger, its worth taking a moment to do some reflecting. These are several physical symptoms that can be a giveaway to anger: clenching the jaw or a fist, knots on the stomach, breathing fast, the need to walk around, pounding heart, and tense shoulders. Discovering triggers can be helpful for thinking over a situation more carefully. Some examples are overgeneralization, over use of “shoulds” and “must”, constantly jumping to conclusions, bringing up any little thing possible, even if said memory had nothing to do with is discussed at the moment, and blaming anyone but themselves. The ways to calm down after being angry is different for everyone but if there were a few common one, those would have to be take deep breaths, count to ten slowly, move about, and to stretch lightly.
