The thing that sucks about reality is after college, unless one opens a business or becomes famous, people spend the rest of their lives working until retirement. Even so, there is no need for anyone to settle in a cycle of getting up, going to work, and going to sleep for who knows how long it takes to retire. These are some suggestions to not feel stuck in a career or job. Making time for yourself is important because the effort one makes can only be realized when the individual is feeling positive. There is no harm to making time for oneself to take a step and rediscover their passion for work. Another suggestion to grow one’s network at work or anywhere. There may be a perfect opportunity waiting to befriend new people or getting back in touch with those one may not be as close to (highschool friend or associate from a former job). Even though people are everywhere at all times, the people who inspire us or provide support are the ones individuals must stay close with. A good support system is a sure way to give one a much needed boost of morale. These suggestions can only be possible if said individual works on their own personal brand; meaning one has to leave a good impression on others, or at the very least, give off an honest brand. People will respect sincerity almost every time. Being accountable is also important because there are only so many times others can hold someone accountable before they end up getting tired from said individual not changing their ways. Make sure the job aligns with one;s value. Even if said job pays good money, nothing good in the long term will come from an employee who comes to work everyday looking miserable. It never hurts to get out of your comfort zone because while one should feel comfortable, playing safe forever doesn't get far and what’s the harm in trying something new. People are always changing. Most importantly, take some time to reflect and think long and hard whether the drawbacks of the job is worth putting up with.
