The Art of War A pavilion with a map, and a closed gate beyond it.

Sun Tzu · The Art of War

Win first, then go to war

The real decision happens in the planning, before anyone is heated. Count time, skill, allies, and what happens if you lose. If the count is poor, change the plan. Courage does not repair a missing piece.

Going in after the odds are stacked is a different act from hoping the moment will save you. Preparation is the work. The meeting is the result of that work.

Use it. Before you start, write the conditions that would make this a sound move. If they are not there yet, do the thing that creates them.
