The Art of War
Sun Tzu · The Art of War
All warfare is based on deception
In a contest, people prepare for what they expect to see. If you show every strength at once, you also show them where to aim. Sometimes you stay quiet about a skill that is ready. Sometimes a weak spot is allowed to look like the whole story.
This is for competition, negotiation, and games. It is not a reason to mislead people who trust you at home or among friends. Shaping what a rival prepares for is strategy. Breaking trust with your own people is a loss.
Use it. In a contest, choose one thing the other side will notice, and keep one ready strength off the table until it matters.
